Delivering Quality Driver Training
Becoming a Driving Instructor
With proper training and support becoming a driving instructor can be personally and financially rewarding. Training can be tailored to fit round your current work and home commitments and typically takes between six and twelve months and will cost around £3000. There are three tests you have to pass.
You must pass parts 1,2 & 3 in turn. You can have unlimited attempts at Part 1. From the date you Pass Part 1, you have two years in which to pass parts 2 and 3. You are allowed only 3 attempts at part 2 and 3. Should you use up all 3 attempts on any of these tests or have not passed part 3 within the two years, your registration as a PDI (Potential Driving Instructor) will lapse and you would require to sit all 3 tests again.
At scottishdrivers.co.uk there are no up front payments. You pay as you go. We believe that if our training is not up to standard we don’t deserve your continuing custom and you can walk away and spend your hard earned cash elsewhere.
Before you can apply to the DSA to be included on the register as a PDI (Potential Driving Instructor) you must have a Disclosure Scotland Criminal Records check carried out. Click Here to apply for a Criminal Records Check.
You must also comply with the following.
1. Hold a full UK or EEA unrestricted car driving licence;
2. Have held your licence for at least 4 years prior to entering the Register after qualifying;
3. Not have been disqualified from driving at any time in the 4 years prior to being entered in the Register;
4. Be a ‘fit and proper’ person to have your name entered in the Register. All convictions, motoring or non-motoring still in force will be taken into account by the DSA before allowing you on the Register,
